Last Day In London

Hey Gang,
Happy Thursday to you all! It super rainy and dark over here in Edmonton. It's the perfect napping condition, really and I'm very tempted! I started rehearsing for a Fringe show that I'm doing this summer about 3 weeks ago, so I've been really busy! It's the first time I've rehearsed and performed at the same time and it sure is a lot of work, but a lot of fun.

Anywho this is officially my last UK post. *Tears* No, I'm only joking I'm glad that I'm finally, well slowly getting caught up on pictures!

My last day in London was amazing! It's featured one of my great pals, Georgie. Isn't she just the cutest thing. I adore her. My last day was action packed! I definitely saved some of the best for last. We started off our day by heading over to Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross. Both Georgie and I are huge Harry Potter fans, so we couldn't believe that we both hadn't gone yet. We giggled like school girls while queuing up for our photo. Needless to say, I got a little carried away.

After that we made our way over to the Wallace Collection, getting off at Baker Street (one of my favourite tube stations). My lovely jazz teacher and friend, Maria, told me to check this place out before I left London. Man, I couldn't have asked for a better send off. We headed straight to the Wallace Restaurant for High Tea. The treats and tea were lovely, but I think the best part about it was the beautiful pink courtyard. It made us feel as if it were a warm summers day.

After we wandered around, we headed to TopShop for a last minute shop. Then we said our 'goodbye for now's'. Another tough one. I made my way back to the flat and finished packing my things. I think what made my last night so enjoyable was my dear friend Ana, who came with me to the Gatwick Airport. We stayed up all night talking and drinking Cafe Nero!

I can't say how thankful I am for all of the amazing friends that I made during my two years in London! Lots and lots of love to all of ya!

Flowers and Brick

For my 2nd to last Sunday in England my dear friend Ana and I decided to go on an adventure. I'd never been to the Columbia Road Flower Market and as Spring is just around the corner it felt very fitting. We met at Bethnal Green station and made our way over to the market. Good heavens, it was busy! 

 I wanted to take one of each of these tiny cactuses home, but alas they wouldn't fit in my suitcase! I did however buy some lovely purple hyathis flowers, purely for their delicious smell!

Since we were in the area if felt silly not to go to Brick Lane for one last romp! And after Brick Lane it felt even more silly to not visit Spitalfields Market as well! I absolutely love this area of North London on a Sunday. It's so lively and wild. 

Here's something you haven't seen on this blog for ages... outfit photos. There just hasn't seem to be a time or a place as of late to take ootd shots until now.  Finally some photos of my new boots in action. Thanks, Ana!!!

New Boots: Shoe Embassy

For my last Birthday my parents said they wanted to buy me some new boots as my old sweet hearts were simply dying. I didn't have a single pair of shoes that would keep my feet dry, and when living in London that's a necessity. So I went on an epically long hunt for new black boots. I looked in Topshop, Clarks, Dune, the list goes on. I just couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. In the end I went for the same pair of boots my sister owns, Steve Madden's Troopa. I was happy with my choice, but I found I had to go through about 4 different boots before I found a pair without a flaw, it took me about a month. It was a long process, and now after only a few months they are already starting to fall apart. My heart is slightly broken. So that was the boot situation until I stumbled upon these beauties while at the Greenwich Market one afternoon. I had actually seen these boots before when looking for my new black boots, but they weren't on my radar (as they are brown) and the black version look a bit too combat for my taste!

I saw these boots and fell in love. I am not one for impulse buying, but for these boots I made an exception!

So I could pretty much gush about these boots for hours. I love the heel height, the light wool lining that keeps your feet at the perfect temperature. Another thing about these boots in comparison to my Steve Maddens was that I barely had to break them in, it felt like they were made just for me. I was slightly unsure of my colour choice at first, as they also have this lovely reddish brown that I liked. But after wearing them out once, I knew I had made the right choice! I'll be posting some outfit pictures with them soon!

Make sure you check out the Shoe Embassy! They have such a great collection of vintage inspired shoes, boots and heels. I wish I could buy more pairs before going back to Canada!

The Royal Opera House & Afternoon Tea

Hello Friends! I hope everyone is having a good February. This month has probably been the most exciting month for me so far of my time here in the UK. As well as my trip to Paris and Scotland, I was also lucky enough to watch two Ballets at the Royal Opera House within the span of two weeks. As most of you know, I work front of House at the ROH, one of the best Opera/Ballet houses in the world. It's been such a pleasure working there and I'm very sad that I have less than a month left. I've learnt so much about Opera, which was relatively new to me, and I've also rekindled my love for ballet.

The first ballet that I had the pleasure of watching was the Romantic Ballet, Giselle. It was my first time seeing it and I really, really enjoyed it. I think a big part of it was because my favourite male Ballet dancer, Federico Bonelli, was playing the leading man. Swoon. He's just the nicest, most handsome guy ever.

After the ballet this handsome guy took me out for Afternoon Tea. It was a day of firsts for Remi. He'd never been to the ballet before, or gone out for Afternoon Tea. It was a special day indeed! 

So after a week long holiday I topped it all off with another trip to the ballet. I am the luckiest duck in the world, I know! Yesterday evening I saw the latest triple bill, Rhapsody/Tetractys/ Gloria. Unfortunately due to injury during the matinee performance Tetractys was not performed. I was a bit disappointed I'm not going to lie, but I'm SO thankful that the upcoming superstar, Natalia Osipova only suffered a mild concussion and would be back dancing shortly. Isn't that crazy, no sweat it's just a mild concussion. Ballerinas aren't just tough. They are the toughest.

One of my favourite parts of that evening was watching Carlos Acosta perform in Gloria. I think it's my favourite role I've seen him in. I'm going to miss the Royal Opera House, but I know I will be back for lots of visits. Here's to the future!
