Picture Post: Victoria

Men in Black dog!

I spent the past weekend in Victoria with my family and friends. I saw The Artist with my dear friend Rory and worked on Someone Like You by Adele on the piano. It was a lovely weekend - so great to be back on the island!

C&C: Waiting for Godot

Waiting for Godot.
Peaches and cream.
Sophia, Charmaine and I at The Common.
Photos by Charmaine.

Last night Charmaine and I watched Waiting for Godot, which we both agreed was very well done. I have never seen a live performance of it, only studied it a wee bit in school, so it was lovely seeing it come to life. Some shows are definitely meant to be seen, not just read and studied. Shakespeare falls into that category for sure.

After the show we hopped ourselves a taxi and head over to The Common, a small, but busy bar/club downtown where we met us with some of Charmaine's friends. I don't go to clubs very often. The music is always too loud, the floors too sticky, the skirts too short, but Charmaine and her friends were great and nothing can beat dancing to 90's hip-hop tunes for hours on end. I am always astonished and amazed by the behaviour of boys/men at bars. It's like all class falls out from under them. There are a few gems -guys that will actually strike up an interesting conversation with you or the quiet and mysterious hipsters that will gently work their way into your dance circle. These things are allowed. Overall it was a very fun evening and a great week.

What is everyone up to this weekend? Thanks for reading!

C&C: The Mikado

I wore my Asian inspired retro dress in honour of that evenings performance.

Yesterday Charmaine and I attended the closing night of the Edmonton Opera's production of The Mikado. After the show, Remi picked us up and we headed downtown for drinks at The Hat. It was such a fun evening.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

C&C: Blind Date

At Sherlock Pub before the show.
Thumbs up for the veggie platter.
Charmaine and Jamie.
Pre-show buzz.
The program.
Seeing as February is one of the most anticipated months of theatre in Edmonton, it only seems appropriate that my friend Charmaine and I have a full schedule ahead of us before we go on a little vacation to Vancouver, BC! To kick off this month of theatre we saw Blind Date at the Citadel theatre. I highly recommend it for a strictly 16+ audience, especially if your wanting to have a good laugh.

Thanks for reading!

New York Tuesday

This week Remi hosted the Tuesday Session at the Yardbird Suite. It was a night of dirty pizza and jazz.  I invited Charmaine to be my date - we both agreed it was an evening straight from New York - a city we both love dearly!
Pre-show excitement!

Happy Closing!

The Wedding Singer - Oct.2011- Feb.2012

I was talking to my father about it this morning and he asked me what I have taken away from this experience. It would have taken me at least 15 minutes to even try and get everything in - It's hard to say in just a few words. I have definitely learnt a lot, that's for darn sure! I think the biggest thing I'll take away from the show is the new friendships I've made. The cast and crew were such a pleasure to work with, I'm gonna really miss that gang.

Here are some pictures from back stage on closing night! Enjoy!
