Traces of Nature

I am allergic to metal, which can make finding jeweller (that I really like) difficult.

I don't wear earrings very often, as I only have 1 pair and I can't handle wearing rings.

What I do love though, are bracelets and seeing as I can't wear metal and don't like the look of plastic - I look to nature.

1. The trees:
My wooden bracelet is the first of my little collection. I bought it on one of my mexico trips.

2. The Animals:
This is probably my favourite out of the three; it was a birthday present.

3.The Stones:
My Mum bought this for me over christmas.

All Three

The end.

Breakfast At Tiffany's

Bar Guy...

Last evening - after work - I went out.

Yes, Miss Cp actually ventured out into the cold to celebrate her roommates birthday by dancing with a lot of sweaty people.

It was surprisingly fun!

I am the kinda person that would rather stay in and crochet while watching a movie - which I think led to this random guy's comment.

Photographer: Nicola Preston
While I was taking a break from dancing and grabbing a glass of water this dude just started talking to me and I was like "oh great, here's another random drunk guy". After introducing himself, he proceeded to ask me if I was having fun and I said "yes". Then, out of no where he said "You need more life in you".  REALLY - Did that just happen. Some bar guy, could pick out that I needed to have more fun. He spotted out my new years resolution in a poorly lit club. That's not so good.

This comment really frazzled me - maybe it was just a come on, but the guy has a point.

So maybe we can learn something from those random bar guys - or not.

Channelling my inner Black Swan

Little Guy.

Today I woke 'early' and went to Bikram yoga!

And oh man, was it good!
Today's class was the best class that I have had since I sprained my ankle! I think the little guy is back in action, or at least soon.
 How exciting!
Here are some cute yoga outfits from Shakti Activewear to inspire you to get your butt in a yoga class!

AND
Some more motivation

Now go do some yoga!

Black Swan - By Accident.

Today after doing hot yoga, I was giving myself a wee massage and accidentally slipped and cut myself, with myself.

Whoops.

After showing my room mate, he asked me if I was turning into the Black Swan... I laughed uncontrollably.

Not yet... at least.

Spiral Dive: The Trilogy

Today I watched almost 6 hours of theatre - The Complete Spiral Dive Trilogy.

I have always been highly attracted to these plays and tonight after seeing all three shows in just 1 day, I wanted to know why.
  • culture
  • history
  • force
  • violence
  • love
  • fear
  • physicality
  • humour
These are the words that entered my thoughts.

Then whilst talking to a pal - I think I figured it out.

It is because you are witnessing a creative representation of such a horrific time in the world, through a Canadian prospective.
Live.
That doesn't happen very often.

Now that I have made this discovery, it also leaves me with a question - What is Canadian culture?

Program Decor

I am the kind of person that likes to collect theatre programs. I keep every single program from every single show.

So what the hell do you do with all of the programs that just tend to pile up in the corner of your room or office.

         You make art, of course

1.You need a cute basket (I think wicker would be a great option)!
        2. Place your programs (I have mine in chronological order) in the basket.
        3. Find a place in your living room for them to live!

This is great for when you have guests over. They can look through them and see what shows you have seen lately. It brings up great conversation.

I love seeing all of those programs. This is a cute way to stay organized and a great daily reminder of all the amazing theatre you have seen.

Reply: Lip Scrub

Last night I was having a hard time sleeping because my lips were SO dry.

I decided to make a homemade lip scrub and it was a great success.

      I used this recipe.

It was fun, tasty, inexpensive and my lips felt instantly smoother.

     Try it out!

It's never too late.

       Yes, it is 4:51am.

          Yes, I am awake.

And yes, I am going to make a homemade lip scrub.

It's been very dry over here in the frozen north, yet... it wont and will not stop snowing.  So the lips, they are paying.

All you need is 1 tsp honey, 1tsp oil and 1tsp sugar - supposedly.

I will let you know how it goes...

Should Bodysuits Stay In The Studio?

My early experience with bodysuits was not the most pleasant. Bodysuits are the symbol of ballet. They're the evil beast that you constantly have to pluck out from underneath your bottom, they show every single muscle, or lump - you are completely exposed.  Naked.

So is that what's drawing our modern day divas like: Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Beyonce to bodysuits? If you've got it, flaunt it?

Now a days ballerinas and pop stars share the same uniform.

Bodysuits have definitely made their come back, but how do you feel about bodysuits away from the dance studio?

Should bodysuits stay in the studio and off the streets? Yay or nay?

My Wish List

My Wish List
This is my mini wish list.
I was looking at how amazing the lighting was in my apartment and really wanted to take some pictures, but alas - my laptop couldn't capture it. That event is the inspiration for this article.
A girl can dream, can't she - but what she really needs to do is work!

        1. An External Hard Drive - my computer, Wilbert, has been acting funky for a while.  I need to take him into to get fixed, but before I can do that I need to back that shit up.

        2. An Ipod or some type of Mp3 player - that's right folks... I am still using a portable cd player, not very practical. I only use it for my sleepy time music. Yes, I am five years old.

        3. A Digital Camera - I have my mother's very first digital camera, it's massive... seriously, you could probably take out a small elephant with this thing. It's so old, it isn't compatible with my laptop.

I wanna be a billionaire - seriously.

Wall Art. DIY.

My apartment is very white.

I wanted to spruce things up a bit on a zero budget.

Here is what you need:

inspiration
Birds
paper

a pencil

scissors

tape
Voila: Wall Art

I want to see your homemade wall art!!!

Where Do I go...

I think most young artist go through what I am going through.

            Where do I go
                 Follow the river
                    Where do I go
                       Follow the sky

Which City is best for me?

I am currently in the frozen North- Edmonton.
-Great theatre scene, but still tricky to get work-

<-  I am seriously debating going back to the West Coast to beautiful Vancouver.
- film and dance scene. I haven't been able to get a theatre audition there yet-

    -> Then there is Toronto.
-I have never been to this city, but it's said to be Canada's New York- worth giving it a shot?

Ideally I would love to be in NYC, but I am short the cheese.

Lovely lady C, has also brought to my attention London, would be an amazing place to be!

SO. WHERE DO I GO.

CSI: NY

Alrighty - So I am in the middle of watching EP.11- S.7 of CSI:Ny and am wondering which dance teacher's ipod they stole the music from.

Seriously - it would make a good jazz class, minus 3 doors down.

2. family and friends
3. moisture, ocean and mountains
4. the dance
5. the sushi

5 things I look forward to in Edmonton

1. rehearsal and volunteering
2. eating better
3. getting back on top of physio exercises
4. hot yoga

Van City Meeting.

I have a meeting with my agent in Van
tomorrow.

Very exciting.

I still want to get into film. I just can't decide what I want to do.

So, I do everything.

Hence the MIXED MEDIUM THEA+RE

The Biz.

It's amazing how one day - I have absolutely nothing - I'm not getting any auditions - the gig I thought I was going to land, I don't get- and then BAM, the next day I have 4 little projects.

My heart actually lit up after hearing the word 'rehearsal'.

Next week I have rehearsal and that my friends makes me a happy, happy camper.

2011.

This is my first article of the year.

My year is completely open. The possibilities are endless and instead of being worried about not having work, I need to trust myself. Something will happen. Whether I create my own theatre or win the lottery of auditioning, I will be making art.

New Year Resolution

To enjoy the journey.
