Face First

Hey Guys, Happy Friday!

Fact. I've never been great at taking care of my skin. I know some people are really good at finding a routine that's right for them, trying new products and really knowing what suits them best. I've never really given myself the chance to find my beauty routine, especially while living in London. Beauty products are double the price over there. I'm the kinda person that gets incredibly over whelmed when it comes to picking which products to use, especially when it comes to taking care of my face. I feel like I'm getting to the age where I really need to smarten up.

When I arrived home from London, I decided it was time to really start taking care of my skin. Or at least take a step in the right direction. I was hanging out with one of my friends Rachel, and I couldn't help, but notice how beautiful her skin was. Yes, it has to do with genes and your genetic make up, but how you take care of yourself plays a huge part too. I picked her brain and got her to write down all of her favourite products. Here are some of Rachel's suggestions!

While living in London I never bought any beauty products, so I went without any primer for far too long. Smashbox came recommended by both Rachel and my friend Charmaine.

Review: I really like it. I find that I use less make-up and that it lasts longer throughout the day. The only complaint I have is that some times it makes my face feel just a little dry. I'm enjoying this product, but I'd still like to try a few others before settling.

Yup, that's right I wasn't using any night cream. I was a silly, silly goose. But now I've smartened up!

Review: I'm still not convinced this is the night cream for me, but my skin does smile every time I put this on after my shower.

Garnier Moisture Rescue with Rose Extract - $8
This product wasn't recommended to me from Rachel, but was simply on-sale at the store.

Review: I love this product. In the past I've stayed away from make-up wipes, but for this show I decided to give them a try. I adore the scent of roses after a long day, very refreshing.

There are just so many options I'm still on the hunt for the perfect routine. If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE leave me a comment!!!

Love,
CP

  1. I am still on the hunt for the perfect cleanser, but so far the products by Dermalogica are the best. The foam cleanser and lemon toner are amazing! I also love their exfoliant. For make up remover I use good ol' Ponds cold cream. Because I have VERY dry skin, I use the "Dramatically Different" Clinique moisturizer that comes in the yellow container. People either love or hate this product, but over the years I definitely find myself coming back for it. It's their number one best seller! I recently tried Murad's facial scrub which I really liked also. I love the Smashbox primer, but love their BB cream even more! Seriously changed my make up routine, and perfect in the summer. I don't wear a lot on my face anyway, but BB cream has primer, spf, and coverage all in one. LOVE IT. If I think of anything else, I'll comment again!

  2. I was on the hunt for the perfect cleanser for a long time. Until about six months ago I used Philosophy's Purity Made Simple which was amazing at removing makeup worn after a night out. I wouldn't even need makeup remover after it was so good. After about a year or so of using it I found it to dry out my skin a little though (maybe also because I'm getting older?), so I switched to Fresh's soy cleanser on the recommendation of someone I spoke to at Sephora. It basically works the same, but is gentler on my skin and is made from natural ingredients. It also has a light cucumber scent that I find kinda refreshing :)

I'm not big on makeup for every day so I don't think I can help you there, haha. I use Josie Maran's argan oil to moisturize and a bit of concealer under my eyes (NARS) and some bronzer (Too Faced) and that's about it. Good luck with your search!

    Cheers from Toronto!
