Been Listening: Babeshadow

I know it's Christmas time and I should be listening to the classics, but I just can't get enough of Babeshadow! I stumbled upon them in the streets of Covent Garden a few Thursdays ago. They were playing right in the middle of Seven Dials (next to Matilda). There weren't too many people when I walked past, so I just stood directly in front of them. It was the perfect view, picturesque, like a movie moment. I felt as though they were playing just for me!

I am so glad I snapped that shot for many different reasons, but mostly because I have a terrible memory for names. It was pretty much an instant like. That's what I call right time, right place. In terms of their sound, it's SO my cup of tea! They're kind of like if Vampire Weekend and Mystery Jets had a baby or maybe just a brother (PS. it looks like they are friends with Mystery Jets, which makes sense to me, haha). Yup, that's my best description! They also have awesome personal style and seem like pretty cool dudes! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

A Night Out

Reading by candle light, waiting for NewsRevue to begin with my half pint of Guinness!

Table for one please! I find myself saying this a lot, but I'm really starting to enjoy it.

I feel like I have always been a pretty independent person. I don't mind doing things by myself, be it shopping, the movies, or dinner. Now, more so than ever this quality has become very important. Most of my friends over here are very busy people, and hey, I guess I am too. With conflicting schedules and the Christmas season in full swing, I've been having lots of solo dates. Not going to lie, some times I do wish that I was with a friend so that I could share the amazing experiences I am having. But it's like I can almost feel my 'self' growing from the independence.

How do you feel about solo date? Do you love 'em or hate 'em?

I hope everyone is enjoying their Monday!

Fashion in Motion

 My first fashion show.

Today turned out to be an amazing day. It was suppose to be a 'catch-up' day, but it ended up being a day of glamour and fun. My beautiful friend, Nat gave me a last minute invite to watch Fashion in Motion, a Fyodor Golan fashion show at the V&A Museum. I literally dropped everything I was doing and tried to figure out what on earth to wear. This left me little to no time to do my hair or make-up, let alone eat. I managed to get to South Kensington and track down Nat just in time. We stood in the queue for mere minutes before we were on our way in to find our seats. We were both first time fashion show goers and were extremely excited for it to begin. Finally the lights faded to black. Gentle, but urgent music began to play, with a swell of blue light coming from behind a statue. The first model entered and we were on our way. The collection was beautiful. With bright vibrant primary colours, contrasting soft fabrics, and harsh geometric shapes, it made for a very exciting show. It was over before we knew it. "Again, again" Nat cried. It's true, I definitely could have watched it all over again.

Here are some photos I managed to catch while watching the show, along with some pictures of Nat and I.

Beautiful electric yellow high low dress.

 Stunning mosaic bodice/corset.

Such beautiful beaded detailing, along with unique hair and make up.

 Nat and I.

 My outfit.

Lady pals in trousers.

handbag: Miu Miu
top: high low burnt orange,  Young Fabulous & Broke
trousers: Navy Blue Suede, JOOP!
shoes: Urban Outfitters

Also, as of yesterday I inherited a ridiculous amount of old clothing from a family friend! Talk about being a lucky lady! Hence a little bit change in style and new-to-me designer names!!!

A Sunny day...

This was a beautiful Sunday morning a few weeks ago. I was waiting to catch a bus and I couldn't resist taking some pictures of the glorious sunshine.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Tuesday!

Ed's Easy Diner

The other week after a job interview I met up with my friend, Brian (We went to Uni together in Canada). Brian was feeling a bit hungry, so we went searching for some quick eats! We came across Ed's Easy Diner, an American diner in the heart of London. It was the perfect choice, I had such a lovely time.

Ed's has such a great atmosphere. With jukebox classics playing loudly and the surprising comfort of North American accents chirping everywhere, you would've never guessed that you were in London.

I wasn't feeling particularly hungry, so I decided to be bad and get one of my favourite treats, a vanilla milkshake. They always remind me of my Dad. Sometimes when I was younger, after dance class, my Dad and I would stop by a McDonald's and pick up a medium vanilla milkshake to share on the way home. Vanilla is our favourite flavour!

Another fun thing about Ed's is that it's right across from the Prince Edward Theatre, home of the West End's Jersey Boys! How much fun would it be to watch an evening's performance and then afterwards head next door for a treat from Ed's! It's just perfect!

That's Brian. Ain't he charming.

You can't really see what I'm wearing, but I was trying to look 'businessy'.

Vanilla Milkshake.

Two thumbs up for the chilli Burger!

It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas. You guessed it!

 Covent Garden Christmas Tree

Covent Garden Market. Two words: Disco balls.

Neal Street.

I'm not gonna lie, I have been avoiding the thought of Christmas so far this year. The idea of Christmas away from my home and family in Canada makes me very sad indeed. This will be my first Christmas away from home. I'm not quite sure how to feel about the whole thing. I know that it will be lovely no matter what, but it will also feel a bit lonely, no matter what. I need to get planning finding out which friends are also away from home and then we shall work together to make it the best Christmas possible!

Any advice on Christmas away from home? I could use it!!!

Cooking with Chelsea: Scrambled Eggs

Take away bag from Maison Blanc, Hampstead.

C'est fini!

So about a month ago I had the craving for scrambled eggs with cheese on a croissant, this quickly turned into a weekly treat! If you haven't tried this, you must! It's so simple and easy to make!  My secret ingredient for scrambled eggs is fresh basil! It's heaven I tell you, heaven. On the croissant front I tried croissants from 5 different bakers, including Maison Blanc (shown above). My favourite was from a little bakery in Muswell Hill called, Sable D'orPaul's followed in a close second place!

What's your favourite ingredient to spruce up your scrambled eggs?

ootd: little peasant girl

What I'm Wearing:

Hat: Friend's
Coat: Vintage
Handbag: Primark
Dress: thrifted
Carigan: Primark
Shoes: gifted

This has definitely been one of my favourite outfits lately and it's probably one of the most inexpensive. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like most people (or maybe just a lot of people) like spending a huge amount of money on clothing. And hey, if I had the money I would too, but seeing as I'm a struggling artist living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, that ain't gonna happen! At least not in the foreseeable future. But I try to not let that stop me from having my own personal style! I really make it a point to only buy things that I need or will use almost everyday. For example last week I bought a new(to me) pair of boots, trousers and a jumper. These are all things that I needed and I managed to grab everything for under £12. Even for me that's good! So if you don't already, I highly recommend taking a look in charity shops, whenever you are in need of a new item or maybe you just need a treat,! Try limiting yourself to under £5, you'd be surprised what you can find! I bought this cute little cream dress for £1. Yes, that's right folks, £1. I love how feminine I feel when wearing this outfit. It definitely makes me feel like I'm in the cast of Spring Awakening, but I would take that any day!

Some of my dresses. Clearly I am obsessed with patterns.

Do you guys know those days where you have a whole bunch of things that you 'should' do, but you just can't be asked. That was today. I was suppose to be filming a video audition, but plans fell through and I just ended up spending the day curled up with a cup of tea and my laptop. I think these kinda days are necessary. I just need to make sure that I don't start making this into a pattern! There is just too much to do in this big bad city, sometimes it's over whelming.

What are your personal 'must dos' while in London?

Blurb over!

Cooking With Chelsea: Spinach Alfredo

Hi everybody! I hope you're having a great weekend so far. I've been getting a few requests to do more food post, so here we go! This is one of my favourite quick and easy dinners, Spinach Alfredo! I'm pretty relaxed about my ingredients for this one. I just start off with a basic white roux and than add what ever I have! This time round I added 1 onion, a few cloves of garlic, fresh basil and spinach and of course some cheese!

Time for some chopping and boiling!

A bit of oil for the pasta. I love my olive oil spray, I never end up pouring too much!

Recycling or garabage bowl. Big time saver!

The start of my roux!

All chopped up!

Alfredo sauce.

Just add chopped spinach and basil.

What are some of your favourite dinner recipes?
